My Philosophy

In order to thrive in this rapidly changing world, we must have a firm understanding of our own values, needs, and beliefs.

As much as we are promised instant fixes from new applications, supplements, or services, lasting and meaningful change only comes from the hard work of looking inside ourselves, understanding why we desire something different, and committing to carrying out what needs to be done to achieve it.

I have a passion for making that change happen, for accepting that a better world for ourselves and others is achievable with the right mindset. I also belief that there are times when the changes we are seeking are not truly meeting our needs; that a hidden third path, one that better aligns with our ideal selves, is out there waiting for us to see it.

My Background

As a professional

After graduating into the workforce at the tail-end of a global recession, I quickly found that the career for which I had prepared myself was not the experience I was seeking for my life. Since then, my personal journey has taken many amazing turns. I’ve puffed up Capitol Hill as a pedi-cabby and ran across it as an intern; I’ve squatted in offices from Rhinelander, Wisconsin to Kabul, Afghanistan; I’ve taught board games to middle schoolers and run planning retreats for executives. Along the way, I’ve explored the intricacies of multiple sectors, from retail to international development, government contractors and non-profits. In some cases I’ve been a leader and a mentor, in all cases a teacher and a friend.

In each role, I discovered that problem solving, understanding, and human connection were often the best ways to tackle a challenge. Now, I seek to help individual and organizations find that connection within themselves and foster a better environment for all.

As a human

Wisconsin-raised and Maryland-based, I’ve always had a knack for stories and adventures, and will often use such terminology in my work. I love escaping technology and reconnecting with nature on secluded trips in the American Southwest. Let’s be honest, I’m a massive nerd, too.

As time passes, I’ve come to rely on my personal sense of spirituality and connection with the universe to better understand my role in it. As Carl Sagan said, “The cosmos is within us. We are made of star-stuff. We are a way for the universe to know itself.” To exist in this world and marvel at something new is purpose enough.
